Multi-site, multi-language e-commerce platform serving customers worldwide. The storefront runs on Commerce Cloud, orders and customer data live in Order Management, and marketing runs on Data Cloud and Marketing Cloud.

Role

• Lead engineering across the storefront, order management back office, and CRM and marketing platforms.
• Gather and analyze requirements directly with the client, and propose solutions in Japanese.
• Assess the impact of each change across connected systems, including risks to live production data.
• Create system designs, phased plans, and effort estimates for client approval.
• Review code, guide team members, support releases, and lead root-cause analysis of production issues.

Architecture and integration

• Designed the end-to-end data flow between Commerce Cloud, Order Management, Data Cloud, and Marketing Cloud.
• Designed customer segmentation and activation from Data Cloud to Marketing Cloud for targeted campaigns.
• Designed the sync of subscription and preference changes from Marketing Cloud back to Order Management.
• Integrated storefront, order, and payment data through REST APIs, scheduled batch jobs, and ETL.

Key deliverables

• Planned the migration of the existing Japan site onto SFCC, covering scope, data migration, system integration, and release phases.
• Led the build of the Japan storefront on the shared platform, adapting checkout, payment, shipping, and customer features to the Japanese market.
• Account security upgrade: two-factor authentication, trusted devices, and stronger protection for account changes and checkout.
• Marketing automation such as cart reminder and newsletter emails, plus migration of existing subscribers.
• Checkout, PayPal payment, shipping fee and promotion logic shared between storefront and order management.
• Order management, shipment tracking, and payment batch processes; loyalty and customer benefit features.

Team and process

• Introduced AI-assisted development (Claude Code) with a shared toolkit for analysis, planning, implementation, and reporting.
• Set design rules that protect production data, such as adding new fields instead of changing existing ones.

02Large-scale Government Subsidy Application Portal (Japan)

Nationwide web system for the Japanese government that handles subsidy programs from publication to approval. An applicant portal lets citizens and businesses search programs, apply online, and track status. An administration portal lets government staff register programs, manage applicants, and approve applications.

Agile delivery with Scrum

• Worked in a 60-person project split into several Scrum teams, each owning features and delivering in fixed-length sprints.
• Took part in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews with stakeholders, and retrospectives.
• Estimated and broke down user stories in backlog refinement, and coordinated with other teams on shared components and releases.

Key contributions

• Applicant portal: subsidy search, online application, notification, and application history.
• Administration portal: program registration with dynamic forms, applicant management, and the review and approval process.
• Login integration with the government business ID service; AWS environments and an automated CI/CD pipeline.

03E-commerce Site Renewal for a Mail-order Retailer

• Bridged the Japanese client and the offshore development team in Vietnam.
• Clarified requirements and detailed design with the client, and explained specifications and tasks to offshore developers.
